My father on reflection was an amazing man. At the age of 7 he was playing on the side of a busy road with a spinning top, he chased the top onto the road and was struck by an oncoming car, he recovered but had to his leg amputated. He married my mother in 1943 and had me and 4 other children over a number of years….

He was a builder for many years undertaking any project that could provide for my mother Hilda and the rest of his children. Dennehy Builders was created as a small family business in 1972 when I was 28 years old by my father, mother and myself. At 15 I became Dad's apprentice and commenced a Building Construction & Design course. With a father & son 'healthy' working relationship we undertook many building projects together. My father's focus alongside his dedication to his building works was to cram into an extremely productive working year as many 'holidays' as he could including time at Torquay, I share this passion too ….eventually he purchased land and built a holiday home in Torquay and at my suggestion the 'Company' along with my own family was relocated from Melbourne to Torquay.

The company was run from home for quite a number of years and after becoming well established in the area developing a successful reputation, we built our 'Baines Court' office.

We have always operated Display Homes to show case our work, constantly refining and developing our styles offering fresh ideas for the marketplace.

We have received numerous HIA Awards for Display and Individual Design Categories since 1984 and have been a finalist many times.

In later years we have found that our clients prefer more individualised homes based on various ideas sourced from our Display Homes.

Our light filled architectural simplistic designs have always considered passive solar energy, privacy & views, affiliating indoor and outdoor spaces.
